"That Was Such A Blonde Moment"

What comes into your head when I say Blonde?
dumb unintellingent blonde female

This for most people is probably true when looking at the perception of blonde's; it is the same when you think of prostitutes and how they are seen as cheap, easy and dirty. but this is not always true. stereotypes is a very easy way to look at society and judge people.

we had a discussion about how to portray the perception of blonde's this in a film:
  • we thought of using a photo-montage of lots of different blonde people
  • interviews of different blonde's with photo-montage
  • putting interviews with added typography and audio
  • hiding the identity of the interviewers by just showing there mouth or hair while they are answering questions
we liked these ideas, but we wanted to show blonde's in a way that people didn't actually see the blonde hair. we decided to hide the hair identity of the people we film by filming just the months for the majority of the film; we had each actor saying a form of words that we could cut and add on effects and typography; for the ending of the film we wanted to reveal the identity of the actors as fake and natural blonde's.

we had a look at different videos to gain inspiration; i was highly impressed after looking at Echolab produced films. they do highly impressive sound effects linking to movement and images on the screen; i like they way the background noises make the video interesting.
    http://echolab.tv/ (short film, nokta)

we also looked at some videos by Tim Richardson at http://www.timrichardson.tv/film.php (procession, physical frequencies, the Minor threat)

i like how the subject in the videos distorted and pixelated, this type of distorting of images and slowing and quickening of the moving images. this links into our music that we decided on being like tuning into a radio station and the sounds of crackling static.

we looked at different typography to put into our film:

i have refence these from my research, looking at different type to express out audio in a visual way. we looking at different forms of typography.

    A French Picture Show

These are images from the french picture show I went to on a college trip with my fellow fashion students. It was an exhibition shown at the Wapping Project in London; the show itself consisted of lots of pictures in a slideshow, showing one after another with sensitive romantic music in the background. I loved the surroundings it was shown in too, it was on a screen with old velvet covered cinerma seats, rubbled chalked floor and a brisk cold air, giving it that aged rustic feeling. the show itself was so emotional and heart touching it could of had me in tears.
I have just found out too that you can now purchase this online for £25 I WANTS IT SO BADLY!!!

    George

This is a short story about a Monkey called George....

George is a monkey, he is lively, curious and extremely mischievous. In august George decided to go on a little adventure all on his own away from his home the Monkey Tree Park.

The best way to travel was by Go-Kart, so as a test drive, George took the Go-Kart for a little spin. Unfortunately this was as far as he got with this idea because poor George fell off his Go-Kart and wasn't allowed back on. this meant George needed...

...A new way to travel. George decided to take the train down to Cornwall, a cheap and exciting way to travel.

The train journey proved to be an interesting one. George met a man on the train, who cannot be named for legal reasons, as he tried to drug poor George with what appeared to be a refreshing bottle of Tango.

George had safely arrived in Cornwall and found a lovely place to stay, named 'Bowgie Inn' This Inn was a cosy yet distressing with its welcoming staff and florescent green walls, it was almost to much for George.

After a good nights rest, George awoke the next morning refreshed and seeking excitement, so off in search of 'Cocks' he went.

Half a mile was a log way for George, but luckily he came across some help. George bumped in an apple, she was a very friendly and helpful but not as tasty as she looked. The apple agreed to carry George the rest of the way.

Once George had found 'Cocks' he went to see some friends he knew were in the area. Firstly he went to see Owl, but she wasn't in and had left a picture, this confused George as he spent 20mins informing her of this journey.

After the disappointment of Owl, George went to see Stumpy the Jersey Cow; but apparently she didn't remember George and he was very upset by this.

After all that hard work George was distressed and decided to have a bit of a rest before his walk back to the Bowgie Inn.

On his walk back George met John the farmer. They had a long and heart felt discussion about George's day. They came to a conclusion... George didn't like 'Cocks'.

So off George went, not back to the Bowgie Inn, or the Monkey Tree Park but on a long boat journey, far, far away...

    ... To be Continued.

    what if...?

what if the world came to a halt and your life was in danger?
what if you risk loosing your family and all of your close friends?
what if all you have ever known changes forever?
well the answers is survival, so ill put you in the situation.....

floods and tsunamis cover over half of the worlds land mass, submerging buildings houses and all we know. as the earth floods frost sets in and freezes all of these flood waters. its a battle of survival, you need life saving supplies and they are in low stock. you need to grow up and think fast!

a still image from other film the day after tomorrow.... this images really links and sums up the environment of my scenario.

these are samples based on frozen fabric (fabric dipped in wax) and manipulated into this shape.

    salt/baking power... looks like ice!

salt and wax..... one of my favorite samples.... this sample helped me develop my salt and pva glue samples which i used in my final garment.

my design board.... well it was suppose to be done on cad but i didn't have a clue so i had to resort back to the old fashioned ways!! (two canvas' stuck together... i couldn't find any card :s)
my final design.... with my inspiration which is bear grylls.... he is an explorer and survival guide. he amazes me every time i watch him as its gets crazier and crazier each time! i looked at clothes he wears to gain my inspiration. my other inspiration is the landscape and the ice.... this has produced my textile surface pattern which is salt and pva glue to create this crystallised ice effect. the fabric that i have used is drill cotton.... this fabric wasn't my first choice as i wanted to use a technical fabric, but it was too expensive to buy. cotton drill was a good substitute as it has good weight and thickness.

    this is my final jacket

    this is my final outfit
(it isn't finished of course) i struggled with the inserts (knees and elbows) but the hardest thing that i found was putting on the glue as the salt drew out the water from the glue which ran into my fabric and set... i was disappointed with this... but other than this i think it has gone well .

this is a close up of the salt and pva glue on my jacket.

so make yourself survive in this in a snow storm!
